ADVANCED TRAINING COURSE ON CHEMICAL MANAGEMENT

Furthermore, this requirement is in line with the implementation of DA0-2014-02 (Revised PCO Accreditation Guidelines) and EMB MC-2019-004 (Advanced Training Modules for Pollution Control Officers). Attendance to this Advance Training Course shall be equivalent to 20 accredited training hours which may be used as part of the required training hours for PCO Re-accreditation.

The program will be most beneficial to PCOs whose accreditations are due for renewal. The key learning objectives of this training are:

  • Understand the mandates of different agencies regulating chemical substances in the Philippines
  • Delineate the compliance requirements of the EMB on chemical management with respect  to other agencies
  • Update on regulatory developments of the other agencies
  • Provide guidelines on compliance to Toxic Substances
  • Provide clear understanding of guidelines, procedures and requirements under Title II of DAO 1992-29 or IRR of RA 6969
  • Describe compliance to Chemical Management
  • Industry adoption of less toxic chemicals for cleaner production
  • Learn various aspects in the Assessment of Chemicals
  • Interpret the contents of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Labels
  • Discuss knowledge about chemical management in terms of handling, labelling, storage and use
  • Prepare a chemical management plan, in accordance with SDS
  • Present a prepared chemical management plan
  • Demonstrate an actual online application for permitting or registration and desk review monitoring

As part of the workshop activity of the advanced training for chemical management we would like to request that you bring the ff:

  1. Laptop – As much as possible we would want to limit the use of paper, E-copies of the presentations will be given thru USB
  2. Bring a copy of updated SDS / Safety Data sheet of your commonly used chemical/s
  3. List of commonly used chemicals – We will check if they are part of PCL, CCO or other local permitting regulatory requirement of other agencies.

Expect to have workshops on how to make chemical management plan.
