PCAPI 4A’s 7th BIENNIAL PCO SUMMIT: “WHAT WASTE?!”
The Pollution Control Association of the Philippines (PCAPI) Region 4A Chapter, a group of Pollution Control Officers (PCOs) operating in the CALABARZON Region, in collaboration with DENR-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) – CALABARZON Region we are holding our 7th PCO Summit on 9-11 October 2024 in Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City. This biennial PCO Summit is a one of the highly anticipated gatherings of Pollution Control Officers in the region that is carefully curated to present targeted issues faced by industries concerning environmental policies.
The theme for this year’s PCO Summit, “What Waste?!” attempts to focus on changing the conversation to waste as resource following the developments on RA 11898 or the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) on Plastic Packaging. It will also feature EMB-CALABARZON’s Sustainable Fashion Competition, entitled: Green Couture where outfits from reclaimed, reused or recycled materials will be showcased from participating artists from the Region. Specifically, PCO Summit 2024 aims to:
(1) provide updates on environmental laws and regulations;
(2) present highlights on EPR requirements (collection, recovery, processing, recycling, disposal and reporting) for businesses/industries in the Philippines;
(3) present upstream measures and innovations to tackle plastic pollution and highlight how these are provided for in the current EPR regulations;
(4) prepare a convention proceedings highlighting the PCOs / Industries issues and concerns raised and submit the same to regulators (DENR-EMB) for consideration and appropriate action; and
(5) showcase an exhibition of top and reputable environmental service providers and suppliers.
